Python Snake Leather, Full Skin, Exotic Leather
What is Python Leather: Pythons are large wild snakes that live in the tropical regions of Indonesia. Our python skins are huge! With their supple texture and bold aesthetic, python leather is great for high-fashion accessories, footwear, handbags, and statement pieces. Their combination of exotic elegance and durability makes python a premier choice for those seeking a truly distinctive luxury material. Each hide features a one-of-a-kind scale pattern, showcasing organic symmetry and intricate detailing that make python leather instantly recognizable.
Our python skins are wild caught in Indonesia following local protocols. The hides are expertly tanned to preserve their natural beauty and durability and "belly cut" to preserve the entire back with its detailed scale patterns for use. After tanning, the skins undergo a specialized finishing process that enhances their depth, texture, and rich coloration. This meticulous treatment brings out the natural contrast between scales, creating a visually dynamic and luxurious feel. Our extensive selection of wild snake leather and other varieties of exotic leather skins is the largest in the USA.

How to Work with Exotic Leather
Working with exotic leathers follows many of the same techniques as traditional leathercraft, but with a few key considerations. Exotic leathers often benefit from added structure, so we recommend gluing the leather to a layer of bovine leather or another material backing using Intercom Glue or Barge Cement. To add extra strength and to reduce stretch, add a layer of Corazza Reinforcement between the layers. To ensure clean, smooth edges, it's best to glue first before cutting. With the right preparation, exotic leathers can be cut, stitched, and finished just like traditional leather, adding a distinctive touch to any project.
Exotic Leather Grading
All of our Exotic Leathers are grades 1-2, consisting of the highest quality available. Leathers of this grade are generally expected to yield 80-90% of usable surface grain area. Like any full-grain leather hide, there may be natural cuts, marks, wrinkles, or other natural characteristics to the uncorrected-grain of the skin. None of our exotics have brands.
Responsible Sourcing & Trade
All of our Exotic Leathers are sourced and imported following the highest standards. We ensure to meet all the regulations overseen by CITES (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). CITES is an international body supported in agreement of governments around the world for the responsible and sustainable trade of wild plants and animals to ensure the long-term survival of all species. Visit www.cites.org for more information on CITES standards & guidelines.
